The chorus frogs promised to babysit Smelly Ann Skunk, but that’s not what happened: they were so busy singing their spring song, they didn't see her wander away! Will the forest friends find Smelly Ann? How will they get her back to her mother? Turn to the first page of this story and start to find out how the animals use the power of friendship, love, and respect to solve this mystery. And enjoy your visit to the enchanting North Woods, where the animals always help each other.
The children’s book Where Is Smelly Ann Skunk” is a collaboration of two long-time Minnesota friends, Chris Thillen of Minneapolis and Janet Hill of Duluth. It’s a child-sized mystery with a kind-hearted cast of characters from the north woods of Minnesota. We hope your child will enjoy Chris’s whimsical tale and Janet’s detail-filled illustrations.
Here’s some feedback from happy readers:
"This is my favorite book." -- Will, aged 6, Minneapolis
"What a cute story about friendship, teamwork, and motherly love. Such enchanting illustrations! The best children’s books, I think, are the ones that have new things to see and talk about with each reading – and this book doesn’t disappoint. From the first page, I was already smitten by the chorus frogs, with their hats and microphone and happy faces. And the bee relaxing in the crook of a tree. Every detail is so lovely and so charming! (Wouldn’t it be fun to have twig tea and sumac juice with one’s acorn pie?) This book will be treasured by children -- and their adults -- for many years to come!" -- David (amazon.com reviewer)
"Our niece (who teaches kindergarten in Sydney) LOVED the book!" -- Sally G., Ann Arbor, MI
“My two-year-old grandson chimes in with lines from the story when I read it to him, and he knows what a moose is now.” – proud grandma from Minneapolis
